I meet with clients once a week. Sometimes, after we have worked together for a while, people choose to go down to biweekly meetings.
A session is usually 50 minutes long. If we need a few extra minutes, we'll take them.
I currently take several insurance plans: Aetna, Optum, Oscar, Oxford, and UnitedHealthcare. If you have a plan that pays for out-of-network care, I can bill you directly and provide a "superbill" for you to submit for reimbursement.
My private pay (out-of-pocket) rate is $175.
Yes. I meet with people in person in north central Austin but am also happy to meet virtually if you can't make it in one week or simply prefer it. I also meet virtually with clients who don't live in Austin but live somewhere I'm licensed (California, Illinois, or elsewhere in Texas. NB: I am not paneled with insurance providers in Illinois.)
Your therapy session is 50 minutes that I have set aside for you. If you cannot attend, I ask that you let me know 24 hours in advance. Sessions canceled on shorter notice will still be billed, barring extenuating circumstances. The fee for a late/cancellation or missed session is $100.
This is the longest answer and, arguably, the least important. Names of modalities are important to some clients, and if that's you, I'd say my background is analytic/psychodynamic with some focus on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) but my practice has come to be something less categorical.
CBT looks at habits of thought that have come to be incorrect and unhelpful and tries to replace them with better ones; psychodynamic practice focuses on personal history and ways of relating that have been with us so long we're not conscious of them.
So those are where I'm coming from, but I think in practice you'll find that a session with me feels more like a very focused conversation with someone with a critical eye, curious and invested, but also productively an outsider to the situations you're telling about.
