Before I was a therapist, I was a social worker. Before that, I studied languages and literature and considered going into academia. I value the roundabout path I took to this work; my mentor in graduate school told me, “A breadth of experience expands our understanding and makes us better therapists.”
Getting to see the variety in people's experiences has been the foundation of what I do. I have helped people transition out of incarceration, talked with people about patterns in their work lives and love lives, and helped people just get the lights turned back on.
I rely on my education and training, but I rely even more on my experience and the range of people who have shared some of their lives with me in nearly 20 years of this work.
Let's talk about where to begin.

The University of Chicago School of Social Service Administration
(now The Crown Family School of Social Work, Policy and Practice)
The University of Texas at Austin, Russian Language and Literature
Psychodynamic psychotherapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (Beck Institute)
Sentencing advocacy and reentry, older adults, HIV, coming out
Licensed as LCSW (Licensed Clinical Social Worker) in Texas (license #105022), California (license #96977), and Illinois (license #149031094).
I provide talk therapy to individual adults.
I see clients in person in north central Austin, off Spicewood Springs near MoPac.
I do teletherapy, because that's a word now, with clients located anywhere in Texas, California, or Illinois.
I talk with a lot of people who identify as LGBT or queer, though I also welcome straight folks!
I don't talk much about mental health diagnoses, which I believe are fine as a rough way of getting a handle on a problem, but rarely get under the rock of your reasons.
I don’t give homework unless you’re really into it.
I don't have an intro video and am ambivalent about having a website. I'm better at therapy than marketing.
